Release: International Exhibit Benefits Bomb Damaged Belgrade Art Museum.

Gallery Benjamin, Sweden exhibition raises funds to repair Belgrade's Museum of Modern Art

Bjärred SWEDEN--Yugoslav Artists Zlatko Vasic and Mischa Rosic have organized a cadre of American and European artists to participate in a unique art exhibition in Gallery Benjamin-Bjärred, Sweden, to raise funds to repair the Museum of Modern Art in Belgrade, which was severely damaged during the recent war in Yugoslavia.

The exhibition, called The Last Waltz, is not about the war or politics, but is a humanitarian gesture by international artists to help restore the museum to its former glory, Vasic said. "It is unfortunate that a country's art institutions have to be punished because of a deplorable political leader. We sincerely hope that starting this millennium with this peaceful, humanitarian gesture will help bring peace into the next century and beyond."

The Last Waltz will feature original artworks by 18 artists from seven countries, including the United States, Canada, Sweden, Holland, Italy, Greece and Yugoslavia.

The exhibition will open Mars 11, 2000, at the Gallery Benjamin-Bjärred,Sweden.
